To:             Hopkinton Property Owners

Subject:        2009 Town-Wide Property Revaluation Information

Date:           October 12, 2007

The Board of Selectmen has hired Brett S. Purvis & Associates, Inc. to perform a complete Town-Wide Revaluation to be completed for the final property tax bill in 2009.

Because it has been several years since a remeasure and relist of ALL properties in Hopkinton has occurred, that process is now underway to correct any inequities.

A data-collector employed by Brett S. Purvis & Associates, Inc. will be visiting every house and re-measuring the outside, and asking to view the interior, to collect the appropriate data to insure we have accurate information on which to base the assessment.  The data collector will have an official ID badge issued by the Town of Hopkinton.

If no one is home on our initial visit, the outside of your residence will be measured. At a later date, a post-card will be sent to you requesting that you call us to set up an appointment to view the interior. Please wait until you have received the post-card before calling to set up an appointment.

Values on some properties may change in 2008, if physical data changes are noted.
In 2009 a new value notice will be mailed to all property owners and informal hearings by appointment will take place before the final tax bill is mailed in 2009.

Sincerely,

Brett S. Purvis & Associates, Inc.

The tax maps and the property cards are located at the Hopkinton Town Hall, 330 Main Street, Hopkinton.
