There are five cemeteries available for burials – Old Hopkinton Cemetery adjacent to the Town Hall, the New Hopkinton Cemetery by Interstate 89, the Contoocook Village Cemetery, Stumpfield Cemetery, and the Blackwater Cemetery off Dustin Road. Each cemetery is divided into sections, lots and plots. A plot measures 5’ x 10’ and costs $600. A lot measures 10’ x 20’ and costs $2,400. The Trustees allow one full burial per plot or four cremations in one plot. There is an additional cost of $150 after the first cremation in the same plot.
Cornerstones are required by the Trustees. The cemeteries remain open for burials from May 1 to November 1 with special exceptions dependent upon weather conditions.
The trustees have established two memorial gardens, one in Contoocook Village and one in the Old Hopkinton Cemetery. The Memorial Gardens are for cremations only. The plots are 2’ x 2’ and cost $400. The cost includes a flush granite marker with the person’s name and year of birth and death. Two cremations may be placed in one plot and both names can be engraved on the flush marker.
