The following rules apply to the burning of brush:
Permits are issued only if the fire danger level is a 2 or less. check the Fire Danger on our home page or check the sign in front of the Contoocook Station.
1. A permit is required in order for you to kindle an outside fire.
2. You must get your permit the day you intend to burn.
3. The hours for burning are between 5 PM and 9AM.
4. Nothing over five (5) inches in diameter can be burned.
5. Stumps may not be burned.
6. Tires shall not be used to kindle a fire.
7. An adult must attend the fire, at all times.
8. You must be at least 18 years old to request a permit.
9. If you plan to burn on another person’s property, you must obtain the owner's written permission and present it the time of application.
10. Before you leave the area, the fire must be completely extinguished.
11. A buried fire is not an extinguished fire.
