Here are some new programs and information from the Hopkinton Recreation Department.
Casino Trip
Back by popular demand!! Hopkinton Recreation is teaming up with Bow Recreation to bring you another trip to Mohegan Sun Casino. The trip will be on Sunday February 22nd. The package includes roundtrip transportation on a luxury coach, a $15 lunch voucher for the buffet, and $25 worth of bet vouchers for specific table games ($40 worth of perks!). All this for $37 per person. There will be two pick-up locations, one at 7:30am at the Slusser Senior Center and one in Bow Community Building at 8am. We will arrive at the casino around 10:45am and leave at 5pm. Spots are limited, call 746-2915 to sign up by February 17th!
Community Scrapbook Session
Whether you’re young or old, scrapbooking keeps your memories alive. Join Hopkinton Recreation as we bring you Liz Durant and her scrapbooking expertise. This community event is for either experts or beginners. We are having a big day of scrapbooking on Sunday February 15th from 1:30 – 5pm at the Slusser Senior Center. Bring your pictures and scrapbook if you have one. Other materials and tools will be provided. Call 746-2915 for more information. More sessions on the way!!!
Hopkinton Youth Lacrosse
The Hopkinton Recreation Department along with volunteer leaders Rob Thomson and Eric Sideleau are gearing up for a great 2009 Lacrosse season. Registration is Wednesday February 11th, 6-8pm at the Slusser Senior Center. All boys and girls ages 8 -14 are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. Cost is $65 per player. Yoga for Everybody!
The Hopkinton Recreation Department invites you to discover the joys of slowing down as you cultivate strength, flexibility and peace of mind in a relaxing Yoga class designed especially for the working crowd. Whether you are new to Yoga, or have an advanced practice, this class will inspire and support your continued ability to sustain a healthy, active lifestyle for years to come. Classes are taught by trained professional Heather Harwood and will be held Mondays and Fridays from 5:30pm – 7pm at the Slusser Senior Center. This is a 10-week program starting March 2nd and ending May 8th. The discounted price for all 10 weeks is $75 or pay as you go for $5 per class. Call 746-2915 to register by February 20th. Class size is limited.
The American Red Cross Babysitting Training Course
The Hopkinton Recreation Department is sponsoring the American Red Cross Babysitting training course on Wednesday and Thursday March 4th and 5th. The class will take place at the Slusser Senior Center from 3:30pm – 7:30pm for both days.
The cost is $55 per person and is open for youth age 11 to 15. All materials will be provided, please bring a snack as the class will be immediately after school.

Easter Egg Hunt
Join the Hopkinton Recreation Department as they welcome back the Easter Bunny! On Saturday, April 4th, join us at Houston Fields for the festivities! The Bunny will arrive at 11am and the Easter egg hunt will begin at 11:30 am. Children up to third grade can participate in the hunt. The event will be held at the High School if the weather is poor or if there is still snow on the ground. Please check the website or call 746-2915 for updates.
Harlem Globe Trotters Tickets
The Hopkinton Recreation Department has secured a limited amount of discount tickets to the March 21st 1pm performance of the legendary Harlem Globe Trotters at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Tickets are $29 per person and are on the lower level. Hopkinton/Contoocook residents have first priority so call 746-2915 to reserve your tickets.
Stars on Ice Tickets
The Hopkinton Recreation Department has secured a limited amount of discounted tickets for the only New Hampshire performance of the Stars on Ice featuring many Olympic and World champion ice skaters including Sasha Cohen, Todd Eldredge and many more. The show is April 10th at 7:30pm at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Tickets are $15 per person and are located on the upper tier. Hopkinton/Contoocook residents have first priority so call 746-2915 to reserve your tickets.
Manchester Monarchs Hockey Tickets
The Hopkinton Recreation Department has a special deal for you! On Sunday March 22nd at 4pm head to Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester to see the Monarchs play the Portland Pirates. Discount tickets are $14 per person and include a hot dog or pretzel and a drink. Call 746-2915 to reserve your spots!
New Hampshire Fisher Cats Tickets
It is time to head to the ballpark. On Saturday June 27th head to Manchester to watch the Fisher Cats take on the Boston Red Sox affiliate the Portland Seadogs. Game time is 7:05pm and after the game there will be a firework display. Discount tickets are $5.00 per person and one lucky fan (16 years old or younger) will throw out the first pitch!
