The summer is around the corner and we have lots planned, starting this weekend!!
On Saturday, the Muppet Movie will be the first Movie in the Park (see below for information).
There are also two Red Cross Programs: Safe on My Own and Babysitting in June.
Summer Day Camp and Swim Lessons are filling up, so get your registrations in.

Movie in the Park – This Weekend!!!!
Mark your calendars because on Saturday, June 13th Hopkinton Recreation will host a wonderful community event. At Houston Fields, we will show the motion picture classic “The Muppet Movie”. So bring your blankets, lawn chairs, bug spray and gather your friends and family. The movie begins at sundown, around 8:30pm. The movie is free to all residents! Concessions will be available for sale.
The American Red Cross Babysitting Training Course
The Hopkinton Recreation Department is sponsoring the American Red Cross Babysitting training course on Friday and Saturday June 19th and 20th. The class will take place at the Slusser Senior Center. Friday’s class is 3pm – 7pm and Saturday’s class is 9am – 12noon. You must attend both days in order to be certified. The cost is $55 per person and is open for youth ages 11 to 15. All materials will be provided, please bring a snack as for the Friday class after school. For more information contact the Recreation Department 746-2915. The American Red Cross Safe on My Own Class
The Hopkinton Recreation Department is sponsoring the Safe on My Own class on Saturday June 20th from 12:30pm – 3pm. The course is held at the Slusser Senior Center and will provide youth ages 8-11 years old with necessary knowledge and skills to safely stay at home alone and what to do in emergency situations. Third Annual 4th of July Family Fun Day!
The Hopkinton Recreation Department is pleased to announce that this year’s July 4th Family Fun Day is packed full of fun games, great food and wonderful entertainment! The event will be at Houston Park from 12 – 4pm on July 4th. Our goal is to provide the community with an afternoon of fun following the Kids Parade at 11:30 and the Independence Day Parade at noon. This year we will see a professional juggler, balloon animals, face painting, dunking booth, kids games, pie eating contest, lots of great food and much more! New to the event is the Tooky Cookie Bakeoff. More groups and volunteers have stepped forward to help out with this great community event and we are always looking for more volunteers. Contact the

Tooky Cookie Bake-Off
Do you have the best-tasting cookie around or an old family recipe that you want everyone to try? Well, test your baking skills at the first ever Tooky Cookie Bake-Off being held during the July 4th Family Fun Day. There are three categories that will be judged: Most Patriotic, Most Original and Most “Scrumptious” cookie. Rules and registration forms can be found at www.hopkinon-nh.gov, then click recreation. July 4th 5K Family Fun Race
A 5K run and walk will be held on Saturday July 4th at 9am (registration at 8am). Come wearing your red, white and blue! Registration is in front of the Contoocook Village Fire Station and there will be informal timing. Awards will be presented at Houston Fields during the festivities There is no registration fee, but donations will be accepted and will go toward scholarships for the Hopkinton Summer Day Camp and the Spirit Skateboard Park. Registration forms can be found on-line at www.hopkinton-nh.gov, then click recreation. Race is brought to you by the Hopkinton Recreation Department and the Hopkinton Lion’s Club.
Adult Coed Pick-up Soccer
Come on down to Houston Fields (Memorial Field) starting Sunday July 5 for a fun adult soccer league. You must be 18 years or older and want to have a fun time. All levels welcome and the pick-up game start at 5:30pm. Come on out and have some fun!
American Red Cross Swim Lessons
The Recreation Department will once again hold be offering Swim Lessons at Kimball Pond. Last year’s lessons were a complete success with most sessions filling up. The classes will be for children ages 4 years or older and will include four levels taught at various times. Cost is $40 per two-week session and sessions run from Monday through Thursday with Friday as a make-up day if a class is cancelled. Session I: 7/6 – 7/17, Session II: 7/20 – 7/31, Session III: 8/3 – 8/14. To obtain a registration form go to www.hopkinton-nh.gov, click on recreation. Hopkinton Summer Day Camp
It is time to think about summer and sign up for the Hopkinton Summer Day Camp. We are excited to offer an even better camp with many great activities, trips and programs for an affordable cost. The camp is for youth ages 6 through 12 years and will include seven one-week sessions beginning June 29th and ending August 14th . Activities will include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, swimming, kayaking, weekly field trips, special events and safe fun for everyone. British Soccer Camp
Back by popular demand! Last year's camp attracted more than 90 youngsters as the coaches from England helped every participant fine tune their soccer skills, while keeping all entertained. This year’s camp already has over 100 people signed up! Camp will be held July 27 through July 31 and will include full- and half-day sessions with a mini-session for the young ones. The camp is for ages 4-14 years and you can register online at www.challengersports.com.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame!!
The Hopkinton Recreation Department wants you to join us for another amazing outing to Fenway Park to watch your beloved Boston Red Sox. Our first game in May was sold out and we watched the Sox battle to a 2-1 win! The package includes roundtrip transportation from Contoocook to Fenway on a luxury coach, driver gratuity, and a ticket to the ballgame (right field box 90). The cost is $75 per person. The game is on October 1st. We will leave Contoocook at 4pm for the game.
~Hopkinton/Contoocook residents have first priority. The package deals are on sale now and can only be purchased in person at the Slusser Senior Center. Call 746-2915 with any questions.
Community Scrapbook Session
July Session Announced!! Whether you’re young or old, scrapbooking keeps your memories alive. Join Hopkinton Recreation for this great community event where you can share ideas and learn from others. These community events are for either experts or beginners. The big day of scrapbooking on Sunday July 26th from 1:30 – 5pm and is held at the Slusser Senior Center. Bring your pictures and scrapbook if you have one. Other materials and tools will be provided. Call 746-2915 for more information
Tai Chi for Everyone!!
Are you interested in learning the art of Tai Chi or are you a seasoned expert. All are invited join the Tai Chi group at The Slusser Senior Center. Classes are Tuesdays 7pm – 9pm and Saturdays 9am – 11am. Donations are accepted; call 746-2915 for more information.
Hopkinton Town Band
The Hopkinton Town Band will hold band concerts at the Lewellen Gazebo in Contoocook on the following Wednesdays: June 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 12,19. The concerts begin at 7pm and will last about one and half hours. The concerts are free, so stop on by and enjoy the show!

A Day of Fun!!! - August 15th
Saturday August 15th!!!
Our first event will be at the Gazebo in Contoocook. We welcome T-Bone, a great musical entertainer that will keep the whole audience involved. This is a family event and children of all ages will be part of the show! So bring your blankets, chairs, your family and friends and join in the fun. This show will start at 2pm and end at 3pm. T-Bone is “full contact” entertainer and will show our community an event we won’t soon forget!!!

Saturday August 15th!!!
Our second Movie of the Park this summer will be Journey to the Center of the Earth. This is a special movie that will be shown in 3-D (glasses provided). The movie will be shown at Houston Fields at sundown, around 8:15pm. So bring your blankets, lawn chairs, bug spray and gather your friends and family. The movie is free to all residents! Concessions will be available for sale.
