Hopkinton Economic Revitalization Zones (ERZ) - Relief from State Business Tax

Hopkinton has two Economic Revitalization Zones (ERZ), a State of NH program that offers a business tax credit for projects that improve infrastructure and/or create jobs in a designated ERZ area. Hopkinton's two designated zones are in Contoocook Village and in the area surrounding Exit 6 off I-89. Businesses proposing to locate or expand in these areas may apply to the state for a tax credit to be applied towards their state business tax liabilities.  More information on Hopkinton ERZs

Community Revitalization Tax Incentive-Relief from Local Property Tax (79-E)

At its Town Meeting in 2009, the Town of Hopkinton adopted the Community Revitalization Tax Incentive (RSA 79-E), which encourages investment in downtowns and village centers.  The purpose is to promote the substantial rehabilitation and active reuse of underutilized buildings in these areas, thereby encouraging strong local economies and smart, sustainable growth. Property owners may apply to the Town of Hopkinton to hold the taxable value of a property at the pre-rehabiliation amount for a period up to 5 years, provided some public benefit can be guaranteed.   More information on Hopkinton's Community Revitalization Tax Incentive
