Planning/Building

In Hopkinton, the Planning and Zoning functions are managed by staff in the Planning/Building Department. Key responsibilities include supporting the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment, reviewing development proposals, implementing changes to land use regulations, and guiding the development and implementation of the Master Plan.

The Planning/Building Department is also responsible for the review, approval, and inspection of all construction with the Town of Hopkinton. This includes, but is not limited to, structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy efficiency, and floodplain development. These reviews and inspections are essential to ensure that buildings are constructed and renovated in compliance with current State-adopted building codes, in a safe manner, and in a way that protects both property owners and their properties.
